American Health Medicare
In early September, Ms. Susan Rawlings will join American Health Medicare in San Juan, Puerto Rico as their new President. American Health Medicare is a division of Triple-S Salud, a BlueCross BlueShield Plan in San Juan.
Ms. Rawlings will be responsible for the full P&L leadership of American Health Medicare, which is a Medicare Advantage organization that holds a contract with Medicare and the Puerto Rico Health Administration (ASES). She will report directly to Ms. Socorro Rivas, President & Chief Executive Officer of Triple-S Salud.
Most recently, Ms. Rawlings was President & Chief Executive Officer of Leprechaun, LLC headquartered in Ft. Worth, Texas, where she was responsible for the overall executive leadership of the company in addition to the day-to-day business operations, leading the strategic visioning, corporate development, market and product positioning, and driving the expansion of Leprechaun’s position in the marketplace.
Prior, Ms. Rawlings served as Senior Vice President and President, Senior Services for WellPoint, Inc., responsible for the senior businesses for WellPoint, Inc including Medicare Supplement, Medicare Advantage and Part D. She also managed a national organization with responsibility for membership in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Maine, Missouri, Nevada, New Hampshire, New York, Ohio, Virginia and Wisconsin.

Ms. Rawlings has also held executive positions with Aetna (Vice President, Retiree Markets/Retiree Strategy); AMERIGROUP Corporation (Market President and Chief Operating Officer, Dallas/Ft. Worth market); PacifiCare/UnitedHealthcare (Vice President, Secure Horizons); CIGNA Healthcare (Vice President, Seniors Business Segment); and, Health Net (Vice President, Medicare).Susan’s career has focused on integrating health resources available through communities and the healthcare system to bring greater value and effectiveness to its users, particularly older adults. During the last several years, Ms. Rawling’s efforts have focused on developing the industry’s understanding of older adults so that as the “baby boomers” age, the health care system – particularly the Medicare system – is prepared for the onslaught.
Ms. Rawlings is a significant supporter of the non-profit sector, having served in varying capacities throughout her career. She is a co-founder and director of The Montana Large Animal Sanctuary and Rescue, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit animal welfare organization. She also served as a member of the Board of Montana Shares, a federation of 37 Montana-based non-profit organizations. In addition, during her tenure at Aetna, she served on the Board of the Aetna Foundation.Ms Rawlings holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Arizona and is a certified public accountant.
